![]() ![]() Membership in Kappa Kappa Psi is open to students who are involved in the OBU band program (Bison Jazz Orchestra or Symphonic Band), have completed at least one semester in the program, possess good character and leadership potential, and have completed the process of membership education required of all members. Annual projects include raking leaves, worship evenings and working with the Salvation Army. Kappa Kappa Psi is responsible for a large amount of fundraising for band activities. The group also provides activities outside of the band for the OBU Symphonic Band members. OBU's chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi organizes events for the band that are service-related. The honorary nature of membership is based on the premise that "it is an honor to be selected to serve" this band, its department of music, its sponsoring institution, and the cause of band music in the nation's colleges and universities. Kappa Kappa Psi's goals are to provide the band not only with organized and concentrated service activities, but to give members valid and wholesome experiences in organization, leadership, and social contacts. The professional fraternity which is known today as the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Inc., was founded on May 30, 1879, at the Russell Military Institute, a family institute for boys in New Haven, Connecticut. ![]() Their society believes that the impact they make on this campus and with each other is not only for four years, but for life.Kappa Kappa Psi operates primarily as a student service and leadership recognition society whose chief aim is to assist the Director of Bands in developing the leadership and enthusiasm that is required of his/her band. Through philanthropy events, the members show passion, dedication and love for Kappa Psi Omega. Every semester, they look forward to working with current and new philanthropy events that provide opportunities for our members to demonstrate leadership roles through cooperative work. For a few years now, Kappa has hand-crafted blankets and donated them to Project Linu, which extends comfort to children who are ill or who have been impacted by a natural disaster. Kappa did a quarter-auction fundraiser and raised over $1,500, with which they donated food, gas and clothing gift cards along with toys to the Toledo Children’s Hospital. The Kappas’ philanthropy has changed to reflect the interests of active members at the time. Our Bros, like the women of Kappa, are very involved on and off campus. Kappa also has a corollary called the Kappa Lil’ Bros, which allows males to join our society. achieves these facets through the promotion of health awareness, community service as well as providing seminars on and off campus. With sincerity comes integrity, dedication, love and self-growth. is a professional Greek letter organization that fosters professionalism, networking, scholarship, and service.
